Sleeping Bag

Rather than comparing all the sleeping bags I looked at here, I’ll just direct you to this really great comparison of light weight sleeping bags:

I wanted a bag that would keep me warm down to at least 30 degrees. I don’t often camp in cold weather so a warmer bag would just have added additional weight and been uncomfortable in warmer weather. For me, the final choice was between the Marmot Hydrogen and the Western Mountaineering Ultralight. It was a tough decision but I went with the Ultralight because I could get it in a small size that more tightly fits my body. I also wanted a full length zipper and the Marmot bags only use 1/2 zippers. These were personal decisions though and I would consider any of the following bags to be worth consideration:

  • Moonstone 800 Lucid 28 oz. $199 20 degrees
  • Marmot Helium 29 oz. $350 15 degrees
  • Marmot Hydrogen 21 oz. $299 30 degrees
  • Mountainsmith Wisp 21 oz. $250 30 degrees
